Our Family Business

In 1999, Richard and Linda Mercurio opened the Mulberry Street Creamery in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. Prior to them opening, they spent a year studying with masters of gelato and ice cream in the United States,  Italy and Canada. Their purpose was to perfect their gelato base recipe, to learn proper mixing techniques, and to find the highest quality ingredients available.

Their efforts did not go unnoticed. From the very beginning, Mercurio’s gelato has been recognized nationally as a premier product and it has won many awards. Today, Mercurio’s is owned by a sibling trio, Joe, Anna, and Michael Mercurio, who are the youngest three of Rick and Linda’s seven children.
